Abbie’s Fund

You have probably found our website because you or someone you know has lost a baby, and for that we are truly sorry. This happens much more than people think. 15 babies are stillborn or die soon after birth in the UK every day through complications, miscarriage, SIDs or illness and it is a devastating, life changing event. In October 2010 this happened to us, and the devastation and feelings of isolation gave us the momentum and drive to help provide much needed  care and support to help other families who find themselves in this terrible position.

We have set up Abbie’s Fund in memory of our daughter Abbie, to raise money to provide memory boxes for the Maternity Unit at Hull Royal Infirmary’s Women and Children’s Hospital, to give to parents who have also lost babies. Through the process of putting together our memory box for Abbie in the days and weeks following her death we have been able to create memory boxes, complete with keepsakes, that can be given to parents at the start of this journey. We hope these boxes help to provide some comfort and support.

For us, providing this service helps us achieve something positive and allows Abbie’s memory to live on.

We provide:

  • Memory boxes for the loss of a baby or child, as well as early pregnancy loss memory boxes.

  • Memory boxes for surviving siblings.

  • Memory boxes for children who have lost a parent.

As a small, local charity we rely on fundraising and donations so PLEASE support us so we can continue supporting bereaved families.

A very very big THANK YOU to Dani and all at Rock Fitness Gym in Goole who turned back the clock and turned up the energy recently with an amazing 80's Charity Dance Aerobics event! After hitting the dance floor they also held a raffle and combined raised an incredible £1469! This was very generously shared between Abbies Fund and Mission Trinity - meaning both charities received a very amazing £735.50!

We are so very grateful to Dani and absolutely everyone involved with the event. Supporting Abbies Fund was deeply personal for Dani after her son, River, was tragically born sleeping in 2012. Dani says 'the memory box provided by Abbie's Fund brought immense comfort and remains a treasured keepsake for our family'.
